Puppy Love Perspective

What if I told you The Shire gained a puppy for a week and a half to teach us a very important lesson? That's exactly what happened.

My dear & understanding St. Bernard/Black Lab/Border Collie Liam's nephew (Murray (Buddy)) came to live with us. He was a beautiful match for our family. So, we had hoped.

Over that short time span Murray (Buddy) learned to sit to get his paws wiped when coming indoors, sit, come, fetch, shake, carpet (keeps him out of the kitchen) and we were working on turn around. Turn around is one of my favorite tricks for a big dog to do. They hate learning it but do it when treats are involved. I enjoy teaching something to anything willing to learn. It was a complete pleasure. He's super soft, smart, loving and sweet. Our little person loved him, and he loves her. Perfect, right?

Let me ask you, have you ever seen a dog fall in love with someone other than you? There is always a ping of jealousy and a "hey?!" thought involved but not spoken. It happened only 4 days (Tuesday) after he was with us. A dear couple who are amazing family friends stopped by to see him. There was an instant connection. Pretty sure that's the connection Stephan Labossiere speaks of in his interview with Lewis Howes. There was no denying God was working on something greater for this dear puppy. This loving couple joked half seriously, "if you ever need to re-home him, we'd take him in a heartbeat" (seed planted).

Fast forward to Friday of that same week and I walk into the house and it's a hot mess. All I can do is stare with my cranky little person in tow. Murray (Buddy) totally puppyfied The Shire. He had been calm and chill when we were away until this one day.

In that moment my heart sank because if you read animals properly, they'll express things to you without words. I commit to animals for life, so this was a hard realization to come too. Murray (Buddy) was telling me, he was not comfy or happy with mean 16 yr old cat Bella, Sweet Senior 8 year old dog Liam and Scardycat 12 year old Liza. My heart knew what it had to do. There wasn't anger only selfish heartbreak. Then clarity appeared once the puppy-expressions were cleaned up. The connection and love for him from that caring couple on Tuesday bubbled to the surface of my heavy thoughts.

Peace came over me - I knew where he needed to be. These two could love on him and devote all their love an energy to him solely as he deserves to be loved. Not sharing it with 3 antique pets (don't tell them I called them that) and a wild Tot.

Do you know I read my devotion yesterday... It was just the message we were to get out of all of this!

Just so happens, yesterday was when all the green lights flashed into place and the plan of action for Murray (Buddy) going to their loving humble abode occurred. Timing is everything. Always (even if we turn our clocks forward and back again).

Friday's puppyfied challenge, "That's why it's so wrong to measure your energy level against the challenges ahead of you. The issue is not your strength but Mine, which is limitless".

Was God's purpose, "By walking close to Me, you can accomplish My purposes in My Strength".

It's not easy to part with a beloved fur kid but when you love something enough, you'll let it go. This doesn't only apply to pets but all loved ones/items. The best part is Murray (Buddy) will be loved that much more now. Not only by us at The Shire but my best friends' family who raised him to this beautiful couple who will adore him.

Now, that is a love story...

Love always and you'll have peace in your heart.

Book:

The Bible - Pick one any one.

2 Corinthians 5:7 - "For we live by faith, not by sight."

Galatians 5:25 - Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

Psalm 59: 16-17 - "But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely."
