Dear the Past ~
You've given me much to ponder, embrace and release. This love note is to release what once was back to where it must remain...in the past.
Over the years I've glanced back in the rear-view mirror (journals, pictures & memory books) with longing, resistance, gratitude and confirmation that only the future beholds the brightness one deserves and can embrace. You my past, are just that.... the past - ashes of once was...
Many beautiful things have been born from you and appreciate each one for its own reasons. Maggurrito being the most meaningful one. Each winding vine has led me to where I need to be, a mother, a daughter, sister, niece, friend, ex-wife & so much more. The fruit is great and each season flourishes when I behold the growth and lesson just right. Perspective is everything and doesn't appear immediately. How frustrating, correct?
The growth is largely to do with God and the amazing leaders (Pastors/Godly Men & Women) that were bestowed upon my path. Each one has seen something different in the unique hardships and glorious moments. To those wise souls, thank you. Prayer works in those moments and will continue to work in the future. That's purely the grace of God.
My heart tends to be on my sleeve and will remain there. It' s a little bruised but I'd rather feel it than become numb to the frost. There is complete peace with giving my all even if the result isn't meant to be a successful harvest. The lessons were worth the tender moments. No regrets - just knowledge to be better in the future.
If you love them, you'll let them go... (Insert Song: 'Space Cowboy" by: Kacey Musgraves)
"Sunsets fade, and love does too
Yeah, we had our day in the sun
When a horse wants to run, there ain't no sense in closing the gate
You can have your space, cowboy."
I loved you and have let you go. The journey never seems to lead where we think. Hang on for the ride, as it's not up to us where we dismount or end up.
To the Army Ken Doll - Be free to continue chasing cats (other loves).
To the Sweet & Sensitive Sailor - Be free to sail and embrace with your beautifully wild heart.
To the Hiking Plant Lover - Be free to love another who fertilizes your soul.
To the Sporty Engineer - Be free to love someone who is more in line with your heart.
To the Gentle Musician/Teacher - Be free to love the one you're truly meant to sing goodnight too.
To the Distracted DJ - Be free to play your music with the one you stole your attention away.
To the Fishing Buddy - Be free to head for the shore, clean up and get hooked on another.
To My Beloved Ex-Husband - Be free to create amazing masterpieces with the one who will fill your art palette. Our masterpiece is invaluable and will forever be our focal point.
Most of all, to my dad - Be free to be you. Over the years you have loved, shown up, been lost, hurt, hurting, found, caring and cared. Today all I can do is love and pray for the end to be a better and fulling journey for us.
The past is being left behind.
Memory boxes/journals are being boxed up and tucked away.
The ring was removed and replaced with a promise ring to my daughter.
The review mirror is coming off. All eyes forward.
The future is going to be full of giggles, laughs, togetherness and love. God's plan for grace in my life was and will always be my guide. Smooth it may not be but educational & enlightening, always.
To each of you, I pray that you can turn back around and look forward. Our futures are bright, so grab your sunglasses.
