Britt enjoyed her days working in retail.

Britt adored the plants, the customers, and building the family of friends/coworkers from the age of 15 years old to 27 years old.

Working all four retail locations and various departments guaranteed Britt adventure, learning, and growth, not to mention embedding a large group of lovely pals into her life.

Working as a tree and shrub delivery team member, she spent time with The Designer - not a landscape designer for the retail locations, but he had gone to school for design. Britt and The Designer shared laughter and told hilarious stories.

This is one story that planted chemistry.

The Designer and Britt got to their location to plant a balled and burlap tree beside a channel of water. The homeowner chuckled and said, "He thought there were nesting snakes at this part of his property.". The thought freaked Britt out. Granted, she kept her cool...for the most part. While digging the hole opposite of The Designer, her shovel sank so fast and deep into the hollows of the ground. Britt jumped back, threw the shovel forward, and screamed like a girl. The homeowner and Designer laughed so hard they were bent over, holding their stomachs. Real funny...guys...real funny. After recovering from the embarrassing moment and overcoming her laughter, she smirked and told The Designer to enjoy digging the rest of the hole. He did just that. Much to her pleasure, there wasn't a snake to be found. Britt and The Designer placed the tree in its place and were on their way, in more ways than just back to the retail store.

As the months and years progressed, so did their friendship.

At a going-away party, Britt had been asked to dance by this Designer. Britt loved to dance and thought, "How fun! Of course!" The song playing was an 80's love song. They danced in harmony, and it was pleasing to the soul. As the night went on, Britt and The Designer laughed and spoke rapidly and with electrical energy. Others mentioned they had no idea what they were talking about or saying. There was chemistry all their own.

It was time for Britt to leave the party as she had other plans that evening. A huge part of her told her not to go. She had to. Britt walked out the door and glanced back at the building door with the hope he'd come out after her. The Designer didn't. Many moons later, it was mentioned by others he did go out to look for her, but she had gone. Isn't that something? By this time, Britt had moved on to another retail location where she was needed. She had shoved this to the back of her mind, but it never left her - what a magical feeling.

The next selling season came and went. Britt found herself at another going away party for someone The Designer, and she both worked alongside. Britt was curious if The Designer would make an appearance. He did. At this event, her current beau decided to attend with her. Great...good job, Britt. While mixing and mingling, The Designer asked her to step outside so they could speak privately. Britt was torn. Do you leave your beau and step away? Britt knew the beau was not "the one," and it was to end soon. Britt and the beau both sensed it. The beau seemed to be having a hard time leaving this chair that evening for anything (even to dance). Britt decided to take a moment. The Designer asked her to listen to a song in his car on cd (that aged Britt a bit, right?). He expressed he wanted to kiss her at the last party. He wished he had. The Designer also expressed he emotionally couldn't handle what she had to offer him. Britt chuckled and thought to herself, "Of course.", this was how most of her stories seemed to end.

Did it end here?

It didn't.

Britt and The Designer continued to chat as pals over the next four years. She helped with his friend's wedding design. Britt was grateful for the extraordinary moments in time with this very adventurous handsome fella.

It was on the morning of August 30th that she got a phone call from her older sister asking if she knew someone with the name "The Designer?"

Britt had a sinking feeling and said, " Yes, why?".

The older sister responded, "I am sorry to tell you this, but he passed away.".

Britt couldn't believe it. The news was not accurate.

When rushing to the computer, the obituary was very real, and it indeed was his lovely face smiling back at her.

Time stopped. Britt's mind raced back to the beautiful moments they shared and how wildlife can be.

He was too young.

He also lived on the edge.

Come to find out - the speed of a new car would take his life to a tragic end.

That would be the day Britt's heart broke in a very different way.

When life offers you a moment of living, embrace it.

Don't let it pass you by.
